KARTS Rules/Disclaimer



GENERAL RULES for ALL KART CLASSES



1. Frames must be of KART configuration. Not to exceed 90” in overall length. NO EXCEPTIONS.



2. Tires must be KART type tires only. Rims are not to exceed 6” in diameter. Slicks or treaded allowed.



3. Cages are mandatory. This is for the protection of all drivers. Not for looks or wing mounts.



4. Wing sides must stay within 3” from outer most edge of KART. No sharp edges or too long of bolt. Overall maximum length of wing is 48”.



5. Uppermost part of KART and wing not to exceed 72” from ground.



6. Bodies can be any material, with the exception of wood. NO sharp edges or protruding parts.



7. Wing, hood and tail piece are mandatory in all classes. All KARTS must start each event/race with those parts safely installed.



8. No bars, other than regular nerf bars, may extend out past outer edge of tire on either side of KART.



9. This is open wheel racing, NO front end cowcatchers. If in doubt – ask an official.



10. All KARTS must have a 6” nylon tie attached to spark plug wires



11. All KARTS must have 8” (minimum) numbers on right and left side of KART wing. Numbers must be displayed on contrasting background. Numbers can range from 0-99 in each class; single and double digit numbers only. Bigger is Better. Illegible numbers will not be scored. Numbers are registered thru LARA, if there are drivers with duplicate numbers, LARA will determine who gets which number according to who registered their number first. Any duplicate numbers may requested to “add” a letter which will be the same size as the number requirement.



12. NO plastic body parts, NO nerf bars or bumper covers/coverings.



13. Beginning in 2016, all KARTS will be required to have an engine kill switch inside the driver compartment and accessible to the driver in case of emergencies. This will take the place of the 6” nylon tie attached to the spark plug wires









GENERAL RULES

And MISCELLANEOUS



1. All minor drivers must have a parent/guardian sign a minor’s release form at the Pit gate. These forms will be inspected for accuracy. This form is valid for the entire race season. If parent/guardian will not be in attendance rather another adult/family member will be attending, drivers must provide a designated guardian form. A new designated guardian form must be completed for each race.



2. Speeding in the pit area will result in a loss of points in addition to any sanctions the host track may impose.



3. Safety committee and track officials’ decisions are final.



4. Any other organized KART class must have a minimum of 10 KARTS to race and must be approved by KART officials



5. NO two way radio communication between driver and crew will be permitted at any time in any class.


UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT



1. Fighting on the premises of any host track may result in permanent suspension. Drivers are minors, therefore their parents are responsible for their actions and the actions of their pit crew/spectators.



2. Rough driving at any time will result in docked position, fines or a black flag



3. Pit crew members observed verbally or physically abusing drivers, other pit crew members, staff volunteers and/or track officials may result in loss of accrued points for their driver and/or a fine, or permanent suspension. NO EXCEPTIONS.



POINTS RULES/SYSTEMS



1. Point system will be disclosed at the first race. If there are questions, parents/drivers can ask a KART official to explain.



2. Drivers/parent may sign in only ONE KART number in their class and run that number KART for the entire event.



3. To be eligible for points and awards, drivers must not miss more than three scheduled point races, per series.



4. Borrowing a KART is permitted. KART must display Drivers registered number and lap counter’s must be notified in advance of such change.



5. Once the green flag has dropped in any race, drivers may NOT borrow KARTS to finish event.



6. Points and winnings are awarded to the registered KART number.



7. Substitute drivers are permitted for NO more than TWO scheduled point races. All substitute drivers must notify lap counters and be approved by KART officials in advance. Upper class drivers may not substitute for lower class drivers; Rookies are allowed substitute drivers as long as substitute driver is a Rookie in the class; substitute drivers must meet age requirement of that class. Failure to adhere to these requirements will result in loss of points for that event.



8. A driver may only race in one class per night, except for substitute drivers.



BEGINNER BOX STOCK CLASS RULES



NOTE: This class is designed for new drivers to gain driving skills, experience and confidence in order to enjoy and succeed in advanced classes.



DRIVERS



1. Drivers must be 5-10 years of age (driver must be 5 by the beginning of the race season).



2. Drivers 8-10 years of age with one season of racing experience may be promoted to BOX STOCK class at the discretion of the officials. This will be based on the drivers experience, learning and driving abilities.



3. Minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times when in the “Snake Pit” area. Parents, guardians or supervising adults are responsible for minor child/ren actions while in the “Snake Pit” area.



ENGINES



1. Stock Harbor Freight 6.5 HP Predator is the only engine are permitted in this class.



2. NO race built engines.



3. No onboard starting systems; pull rope or hand held starters only.



FUEL



1. Pump gas or race gas only



2. NO alcohol, additives or oxygenates allowed.

BOX STOCK CLASS RULES



DRIVERS



1. Drivers must be 8 years of age or older, must have at least one race season of experience.



2. Drivers may be moved up depending on experience and driving ability at the discretion of the KART officials.



3. Minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times when in the “Snake Pit” area. Parents, guardians or supervising adults are responsible for all minor children's actions while in the “Snake Pit” area.



4. KARTS overall weight is 250 lbs min. with driver



ENGINES



1. Acceptable engines include Briggs Animal, P/N 124332-8201-01. Subaru EX27 sealed, No Modifications, Exceptions are air cleaner and exhaust. No other motors are allowed. (www.out2win.com) (319-373-2018)



2. NO dual engine set-ups or Blackzilla engines.



3. No onboard starting systems; pull rope or hand held starters only



FUEL



1. Pump gas or race gas only. No E85.



2. NO alcohol, additives or oxygenates allowed.



3. Briggs motors are allowed to run race gas or methonal.





CLASS TECH

125/250 CC CLASS RULES



DRIVERS



1. Drivers must be 10-18 years of age



2. Drivers may be moved up depending on experience and driving ability at the discretion of the KART officials.



3. Minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times when in the “Snake Pit” area. Parents, guardians or supervising adults are responsible for all minor children's actions while in the “Snake Pit” area.



4. KARTS overall min. weight is 370 lbs. with driver



ENGINES



1. 125 = 125 CC; 250 = 250 CC



2. All motors subject to CC inspection



TIRES



1. Burris 55 compound or Hoosier 50 tires.





CLASS TECH

KARTS DISCLAIMER



The rules and/or regulations set forth above are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events all participants are deemed to have complied with such rules.



NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF, OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS.



They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death of a participant, spectator, or official. The race directory shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that, in his/her opinion, do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements.



NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS



Any interpretation or deviation of the above rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final. Drivers and parents/guardians of minor drivers are responsible to read and understand the rules and regulations above.



CONDUCT:



REFUSAL of ENTRY: We reserve the right to refuse service, entry or re-entry to anyone. Any individual, team or associate may be refused entry of reasons such as debt owed, conduct, behavior or actions, or illegal activity of the driver, car owner, pit crew or family member.



PHYSICAL CONDITION, INTOXICANTS and CONDUCT, ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY



1. Any driver, car owner, pit crew, mechanic or anyone entering the pit area during the day of the race/event, that gives evidence of physical or mental impairment, exhaustion, alcohol consumption or using drugs making him/her a potential danger to others on the track or in the pit area will be excluded from competition and ARE SUBJECT TO IMMEDIATE EJECTION BY OFFICIALS AND/OR SECURITY PERSONNEL.



2. NO alcoholic beverages may be consumed by anyone in the pit area during the event. If consumption of alcoholic beverages becomes an issue, we reserve the right to eliminate alcoholic beverages from being allowed on the premises at any time.



3. Anyone who is exiting the pit area to the grandstand or parking lot area to obtain intoxicants will have to forfeit their pit pass and remain out of the pit area until all race events are completed. The cost of the pit pass will not be reimbursed.



4. It is against Nevada State law for anyone under the age of 21 years old to possess alcohol. Any competitor/minor suspected of illegal possession of consumption of alcohol or drugs will be suspended from competition, and the proper authorities will be notified. If authorities confirm suspicion, the penalty will be permanent suspension. If competitor chooses to leave before authorities arrive, they will be considered guilty and permanently suspended.



5. There will be ZERO TOLERANCE for improper conduct, physical and/or verbal abuse to any individual or group at any time. Any person who strikes or causes bodily harm or uses improper language towards any other driver, pit crew, spectator or Track official will be automatically suspended. The offender may also face assault charges or have legal action brought against them.



6. Suspension and/or fines may be assessed to drivers, pit crews, family members and friends while in pit area. Objectionable conduct, such as arguing with or shouting at officials or any other persons, will not be tolerated and may subject the driver to being black flagged, fined and/or the offender to be removed from the premises. Anyone supplying alcohol to a minor or under aged person will be permanently suspended.



PARENTS: You are responsible for your child’s safety and actions. Make sure you read and understand all disclaimers when you sign and enter the race track grounds. Additionally, your conduct as a parent shall be such as to be beyond reproach. Yelling, hitting, berating of your child or any other individual WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.



DRIVERS: Make sure you read and understand the racing rules. Some things have changed and some things are different from other race track procedures. Any display of unsportsmanlike conduct will result in penalty, fines and/or suspension at the discretion of the race director/flagman/promoter. All drivers assume total responsibility for any and all actions by anyone associated with them, their team towards anyone else and shall be cause for penalty, suspension, loss of any awards (points, trophy or money) and possible arrest.
